Here’s a little history about how this all came to be:
On a snowy night in February of 1994, Jeff Buckley played a legendary set at Uncommon Ground. This performance was lauded “Best Concert of the Year” by Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune, and was later recalled by Mr. Kot as one of the best concerts he’s ever attended. This year marks the 22nd anniversary of that legendary performance.
Now uncommon ground celebrates Buckley’s legacy each year by inviting artists from all over the world to pay tribute to the legendary artist.
The 19th Annual Jeff Buckley Tribute is scheduled to take place on November 16th and 17th, 2016. The event will be held at Uncommon Ground’s Clark and GRACE location.
The two JCs meet again, @ Chicago Street Pub in Joliet IL, for another round of stories & songs! The night promises to be something special for the performers & the audience! Thursday night Oct 27th @ 8pm. Don’t miss this one if you happen to be in the area…this kind of thing just doesn’t happen every day!
Look for John & the Old Gang Orchestra to be amping up the live schedule as well as heading back into the studio to record new material in the coming months! Thanks to all who have made the past summer so wonderful!
Hopstring Fest 2016 was an amazing celebration & John & The Old Gang Orchestra played an inspired set on Saturday afternoon, unveiling a larger band for the first time, augmented by the addition of Kevin Krauss on keyboards & Ellis Wright on saxophone. The sonic result was well received & the majority of the set contained new material, hinting at exciting things to come for 2017! The momentum continues this week as John will play his monthly residency @ Chicago St. Pub on Thursday Aug 25th & close out the “Hopstring Hangover” week w/ a return to the Will County Fest on Sat. Aug 27th for a solo matinee set! Check back regularly for updates & announcements!
