This past weekend John reunited w/ two old friends on the stage of the High Hat Club in Chicago! World Renowned spoken word poet Regie Gibson returned to Chicago for a string of shows this past week & John along w/former bandmate Jeff Bella were asked to join Regie for the show on Saturday night. This set marked the first time these three had shared a stage together since the days when “The Benefit” would appear w/ Regie & other poets on a fairly regular basis @ The Green Mill in Chicago as well as venues in NYC, Boston, LA & around the country. At the time John & The Benefit were supporting what was to be their final release (Eleventh Hour Grace) on the EM-Press label. The night came together in typical last minute fashion, but the set felt as comfortable & exciting as always. Joining the gang on drums this time around was accomplished percussionist & Green Mill regular Scott Hirtenstein!
Here's an "unplugged" performance of the new song "The Field" which was shot by Zoran Orlic & submitted to the NPR Tiny Desk Contest! More show updates & news to follow.
