Britt Dignan joined the bill to open up the night & turned in a fantastic set of original tunes! Good times had by all & a nice little impromptu “session” after hours up the street by John & the Dubs!
Nov. 1st marked the two year anniversary of John’s first performance w/ legendary songwriter Paul Brady @ The Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago. How fitting that their second evening together @ this revered concert hall should fall on the same date! John opened the show w/ a set of songs pulling from his substantial back catalog as well as a few new ones & the promise of a future recording in the works. The set was well received by the Maurer Concert Hall audience & the sound @ the Old Town was, as always, beautiful! Paul Brady took the stage & charmed & excited the crowd w/ an inspired & personal performance…one for the books, no doubt! Coming off an amazing final summer performance @ the 4th Annual Hopstring Fest, the year has shown no signs of slowing down w/ both solo & full band performances announced in recent weeks as well as the hinting at a new studio effort on the Flipside label! The shows will include both solo & band appearances. shows have been confirmed w/ label mate Allison Flood @ Uncommon Ground in Chicago, a full band opening set @ The newly Christened TREE in Joliet, a number of appearances @ the famed Chicago St Pub, a very special night @ Truth w/ former bandmate Jeff Julian of Vaudevileins & a November schedule that will see John sharing the stage w/ The Young Dubliners as well as legendary songwriter Paul Brady for the second time @ Chicago’s venerable Old Town School of Folk Music! Plans are also in the works currently for a number of tour dates in 2016 that will include a few special surprises!
Many wonderful things on the horizon in the coming few months; New material, some exciting side projects, big show/festival announcements & a new studio recording in the works! A fantastic time was had by all this past Saturday night @ the famed Chicago Street Pub for the Flipside Works Christmas showcase! It was great to see so many people turn out to support this wonderful community of artists! Congratulations to Flipside label mate Allison Flood who had a few limited edition pre-release copies of her debut EP on hand & who turned in an amazingly heartfelt set of her finely crafted tunes! There were a few more very special musical treats throughout the evening including a first time solo set by Regressors front man Kevin Krauss & an extremely rare solo set by Jeff Julian of Vaudevileins fame! Both of these performers were inspiring to watch & to see them on their own telling stories & singing songs was unforgettable! John, Tom, Don & Pat took the stage for the first time in over two months as the full Old Gang Orchestra & immediately tore into a typically high energy set which included crowd favorites as well as a number of new songs that they’ve been recently working on…new album in the works? We’ll have to see what 2015 brings, but this year has been a great one & the new year promises to be even better…check back for tour dates & news on what might happen with the new material! John Condron & The Old Gang Orchestra will perform on Saturday Dec 13th @ the venerable Chicago Street Pub, as part of the Flipside Works Christmas “Bizarre”! This performance marks the first full band gathering since the end of summer & promises to be a fantastic night full of surprises as well as a healthy dose of NEW material from the gang!
