The Old Gang Orchestra is a musical collective brought together initially to re-imagine the songs off of John Condron’s latest release “…If Any or at. All”. The band made it’s debut to fantastic reviews in December of 2012 & has continued to perform in a growing capacity w/ John throughout last few years. The O.G.O. consists of a number of Chicago area music “staples”, banging various styles & influences into one very unique & effective musical family. Anchored by John’s working class songwriting sensibilities, the group is made up of a variety of top notch players including original members, Pat Otto(mandolin/mandola), Tom Maslowski (upright bass/bass guitar) & Doneco Nudi (drums & percussion) w/ recent additions Ellis Wright(saxaphone) & Kevin Krauss(piano/organ). The lineup has succeeded in breathing new life into the material they tackle & will play a formidable part in the Midwest touring schedule as the months unfold! What began as a “live” vehicle for a specific set of songs has now grown into a full on project, digging deeper back into John’s solo catalog as well as creating new material uniquely their own. Look for the O.G.O. to head into the studio in the coming months to record to a full length collection of all new material.
“ John Condron’s “music w/ an old world soul & a new world sense of urgency” just got a bit more soulful & a lot more urgent!” – WYKT 105.5 FM
